Stop All Fighting
This three word message is said to have been sent to all Allied troops in Europe in May 1945 and it marked the end of the Second World War in the continent.
Leominster and the end of the Second World War
Leominster Museum’s temporary exhibition for 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day on the 8th May 1945 which is being commemorated in the town and in the rest of the country. The displays tell the stories of a number of soldiers, sailors and airmen from Leominster who were active combatants in the war, and how their service affected them. It looks at how women at home in the town played their part in the war effort as well.
Come and look at the large photos we have of VE Day street parties in Leominster in 1945 – perhaps you will be able to spot one of your ancestors!
Hear the voices of Leominster people who lived through the war talking about their memories on our digital listening post, too.
The exhibition is open from 12th April to 1st November 2025.
